“The eternity of music in the hands of a talented new generation”
Founded in 2018, the Philia Trio stands out as a resolutely modern and innovative ensemble, energising the classical scene with the surprising inclusion of the accordion alongside the violin and cello. The trio's story began at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where cellist Lisa Strauss and accordionist Théo Ould joined forces to champion an eclectic repertoire, soon joined by violinist Pierre Liscia-Beaurenaut.
In 2019, their artistic daring was rewarded with an audience prize at the Léopold Bellan international competition. This success put them in the spotlight, notably with the release of their album Madness in 2022 on the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival label, blending Baroque and contemporary works from Marin Marais to Arvo Pärt.
Lisa Strauss, praised by Le Monde for her excellence on the cello, performs alongside Théo Ould — the first accordionist nominated for the Victoires de la Musique Classique revelations — and Pierre Liscia-Beaurenaut, acclaimed as a member of the Quatuor Métamorphoses and performing in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris. Their innovative approach transcends the boundaries of the classical genre and offers an immersive experience at every concert.
